Happy Christmas

I think we need something to make us smile 'round here. I present to you, my new obsession, Straight No Chaser:
Hat tip to Matterdays
We lost a member of the HADH family today. Glenda’s car hit some black ice this morning on her way to work. She slid sideways into a pick up. Her injuries were pretty severe. We tried to stabilize her for transport to the trauma center in Columbia (more than an hour away). The medivac helicopter couldn’t fly because of severe weather, so we tried for over seven hours to deal with a level 4 (the highest) trauma in our emergency department. All of our staff did everything that we could have done and then some.
She died after receiving 8 units of blood, multiple treatment, CPR, lab work, imaging work, and heroic life saving attempts.
I once worked at a level four trauma center and I can say that even with our limited resources, we did as good a job as I’ve ever seen before.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family tonight.
It’s been a very long day.
Long time no blog. I know, I know.
Well, here's something that might be of interest to a few. This link http://laboratorian.advanceweb.com/Default.aspx should lead to Advance Magazine for Laboratory Professionals where you can view a multimedia presentation about our new laboratory that I've been harping on for months. Just click the picture, scroll down a bit, and it should take you to it. I suggest that you manually click through the pictures as they load very slowly.
Hope you all enjoy it.
